We all know there is some drama that goes on in church, but what goes on at this church, will have you “slung in the spirit”.

On November 3. 2018, which was yesterday, I had an great opportunity to take in a stage play titled, “ The Secret within the Pews“.  It was scheduled to begin at 6PM and let me tell you at 6PM the narrator’s voice came across the speakers…the show began. Here comes sister Odessa and son Michael. Odessa gets the scoop along with the audience as well as make sure you don’t miss a thang!!! 

SHE IS MESSY AND I LIKED IT!!!!

The play took place in the best small town in Mississippi; Belzoni (Catfish Capital of the World), I thought I would throw that in there. The Secret within the Pews is a Vonshay Exclusive Production. The show traveled from Ohio to bring a sense of reality through laughter to the citizens of Belzoni. Oh snap, one of the best parts of the experience is that the Co-Writer; Takelia Day, is a Belzoni-Humphreys County naive. Will the church say Amen.  Amen!!!

THE PLAY

I really can’t give away the content of the play because you need to be as shocked as I was but I can tell you this…”IT WAS GOOD TO ME!”   The plot will have you at the edge of your sit -looking at your partner with an side eye! Baby, I laughed so hard but my neck was hurting -trying not to look at some of the people in town that knows in real life how it goes down. lol

The cast was professional, talented, and delightful. The songs and singing was right on point with some of our favorites. I really enjoyed every minute of it.

IN CONCLUSION

This play speaks to the reality of life for many… not just church folk. There are secrets everywhere, many are known but never spoken because of love, shame, and/or guilt. Oh, but Odessa knows.

The play gave laughter with so many moments of: ” Is or was it worth the pain?”   Hopefully, there was a moment of asking God to forgive us.
