Grinders, check this out …talk about being at the right place at the right time!
On Thursday, May 21, 2015, my friend and I were looking for a spot to watch the NBA playoffs and listen to some Karaoke. I went to my favorite spot…closed. Disappointed, I started thinking…mmm, where could we go? Then Windsor Inn came to mind. After agreeing to go…my stomach was excited because I love their wings.
As I entered Windsor Inn thinking, “which song will I sing tonight?” I greeted a few friends at the bar then I heard “Premiere Video” of the song, “Stand”. I began to look around and spotted Frank Johnson of WPB Radio & Creative Hub, Konan of 92Q, and Ivory Hawthorne of Low Key Recording Studio.
I focused on the monitors and the melody had my head bouncing but the words had my ears wide open –soaking in every word. Whiling watching this visual art piece, my mind was transported back to ALL the News reports of Trayon Martin, Freddie Gray, Anthony Hill, Eric Garner, Michael Brown, Walter Scott, and so many more that died from an act of violence. I began to reevaluate my position and contribution to spread the word of self-love (to be able to love others). I have decided there is more I and my platform should/will do to help with the cause to save our future (Black Lives).
I would like to shout out Writer; Ivory Hawthorne, Music Producer; Larry Summerville, for this great work…also, shout to the Director; Abeni and the awesome artists; featured on this track to encourage and inspire lives.
