Stylish Styles with Trysh…

RYG: Who is Trish Christie-Standley? Outside of a mother, wife, daughter and sister – I am a woman who LOVES her God and tries to stay sensitive and in tune to the His voice for direction. I am a believer that that life is a journey and we only get one chance to live it. God created us all with multiple gifts and He expects us to tap into them all while giving Him all the glory.

RYG: Being a gospel artist, why choose a talk show about fashion/style? Why not? My show allows me to easily find a common denominator in an area where many can relate. I use my show as a vehicle to educate and entertain the everyday woman about what’s hot and what’s not in fashion and share that style is what happens on the inside while fashion is what is rocked on the outside. I’ve always loved the fashion industry and I believe that it is certainly “ok” to share a different side of who Trish is.

RYG: How long have you been in talk radio? Talk radio is VERY new to me. I have never done anything other than radio interviews as an artist. I’ve never hosted a show until the genesis of Style with Trysh which launched April of 2013 BUT when I attended Clark Atlanta I was always interested in the Mass Media field of study.

RYG: What do you think about the style industry today? I am loving the fashion industry today. I love the colors as well as the re-entry of classy. I personally have never felt more “freedom” in my choices and that is very exciting to me. There are so many up and coming fashion designers out now and they really inspire me. My mother is a seamstress so all of my life I’ve been accustomed to the importance of fit and diversity in my garments. The industry today examples this.
RYG: Have you encounted any obstacles on your journey? Obstacles, for me are viewed as a challenge and of course we all encounter them.  How did you overcome? Perseverance is key for me. Not being afraid of hearing “NO” as well as accepting constructive criticism helps. My affirmations lie in who God has said that I am so when I become a little overwhelmed I remind myself of this through God’s Word. trish1
RYG: What/Who inspires you? I have a daughter that I am responsible for making an example to. It is very important to me to example before her to live her dreams and exercise her talents. I can say the words all day long but unless I show her by example they are just that “words.” The support I receive from my family and friends also assists me with staying the course. Last but not least, my God. He has called me to do this and I dare NOT operate in disobedience when He has called me ever again. I can’t afford to.
