Ronald “Xklue” Lawson

Barber, RAPPER, Graphic Artist, Music Producer

RYG: Where did your name originate?

XKLUE:  My friends always say my skills are exclusive – I broke it down to Xklue.

RYG: How long have you been recording professionally?

XKLUE:  I have been recording for about 6-7 years, but started rapping when I was old enough to speak a bar.

RYG: I know you have been through some things in life, which gave you time to think on what you wanted to do. Would you please share that experience with our audience?

xklue1XKLUE:  When I was about 18; on the night I was trying out for the basketball team; a friend and I plus his girlfriend (I thought) was hanging out.  There was an argument or disagreement between them. Well, she offered to take me to the basketball tryouts and she did. Weeks pasted and a day before Christmas we were falsely arrested.  I was facing over 20 years on charges which weren’t true, but I was release after 18 months because the TRUTH WILL ALWAYS COME OUT.

But, during that time, I focused on all the talent God has given me; I became serious about my craft and determined to do them all. My song Guns & Roses speak about my experience.

RYG: I heard it’s hard to get support from people in Baltimore. What’s your take on that?

XKLUE: B’more will support me… I feel when you support your community; your community will in turn support you.

RYG: What words would you give artists who run into obstacles?

XKLUE:  Never give up on your dream; put your words into action…You never want to be in the position of I should’ve, I could’ve, I would’ve.
